Position Overview
Provide strategic and operational leadership for the surgical service line, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, regulatory compliance, and quality standards while driving operational efficiency and business growth. Collaborate with the Service Line Chief to achieve excellence in patient outcomes and service performance.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Operations
Oversee surgical workflows across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases
Manage operating room scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination with anaesthesia and surgical teams
Monitor sterile processing and infection control to maintain accreditation compliance
Implement evidence-based protocols, including enhanced recovery pathways
Lead patient safety rounds and ensure adherence to surgical safety checklists
Drive technology adoption (EHR, digital workflow systems) for operational efficiency
Support emergency preparedness for trauma and urgent surgical procedures
Strategic Planning
Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with hospital objectives
Analyze KPIs (case volumes, patient outcomes, financial performance) to guide decisions
Collaborate with the Service Line Chief to enhance efficiency and business growth
Policy & Clinical Pathways
Develop and implement policies for surgical care delivery
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Collaborate with physicians and allied health professionals on evidence-based clinical pathways
Staff Development & Quality Improvement
Mentor the surgical nursing staff and promote continuous education
Implement competency assessments and certification programs
Lead quality initiatives to improve patient safety and surgical outcomes
Monitor performance dashboards and prepare for accreditation audits
Qualifications
Experience:
10–15 years of progressive experience in surgical nursing
Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a surgical department or perioperative services
